Isabel Cristina Soares Curado de Matos

My name is Isabel Matos, I graduated in Biology from the University of Algarve in 2017 and became a Master's in Molecular and Microbial Biology at the same university in 2019. During my degree, I carried out the project " Susceptibility of isolates of Bacteroides spp. to different antibiotics", developed in 2016 in the University's microbiology laboratory, and in 2019, in the same place, I finished my master's thesis "Interactions of Bacteroides dorei with intestinal epithelial cells", which was based on analysing the responses of intestinal epithelial cells exposed to Bacteroides species from faecal samples of diabetic children as part of a project entitled "Health Marathon Awards 2015 - Diabetes Research". During my academic career, I co-authored 1 article and participated in several conferences with poster presentations. For 3 years I volunteered at the ABC microbiology laboratory at the University of the Algarve to continue developing my technical and social skills, participating in some projects, such as Micromundo and teaching my colleagues in the laboratory some of the techniques I already knew. In 2020 I took the IELTS international academic English test and obtained a C1 result. Since 2022 I have been a research fellow in the AGRO+Eficiente project, which has already resulted in 1 oral presentation and 1 poster presentation. This year I also co-authored 1 article within the colaborations running in the microbiology laboratory.
