I am profoundly committed to making the energy transition become a reality through the development of my professional and academic activities. By combining expertise in engineering and social sciences, I strive to be at the forefront of socio-technical innovation and promote systemic interventions in the energy field, guided by a personal vision of strengthening democratic values, promoting the sharing economy, reducing energy poverty and injustice, protecting the natural environment, and advancing achievements in the sustainable energy realm. My PhD research focused on revealing the less tangible Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH) aspects of peer-to-peer energy sharing models. It was developed under the MIT Portugal programme on Sustainable Energy Systems at the University of Coimbra, which represents an international collaboration between MIT and the best Portuguese universities. I am a Senior Innovation Developer at Virtual Power Solutions (A Cleanwatts Company) - an energy holding company that aims to foster the innovative use of clean energy and improve energy efficiency through a suite of proprietary advanced digital technologies and collaborative platforms that simplify, amplify, and accelerate the energy decarbonisation for companies and communities around the world. Within my responsibilities, I am engaged in the tailoring and management of multimillion R&D projects on End-User Engagement, Social Value Creation, Energy Citizenship, Renewable Energy Communities, Local Energy Markets, User-Centric Energy Services, etc. Apart from that, I am the co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of the EffiSummer startup, which aims to unlock new added value from CO2 emissions reduction measures. Fundamentally, this vision involves the conceptualisation of a platform that aggregates multiple small-scale CO2 emissions reduction achievements from end-users (through the promotion of energy efficiency, local renewables and energy flexibility at the community level) and then converts it into Guarantees or Origin or Certified/Voluntary Carbon Credits for partner corporates, who purchase it to either support their corporate social responsibility initiatives or comply with low-carbon regulations.
