João M. Carvalho has a bachelor in Biochemistry (FC/UL, 2016) and a MsC in Biotechnology (IST/UL, 2018). At the moment, João is a PhD candidate in Biotechnology, and focuses on the valorization of wastewaters towards the production of biopolymers, namely polyhydroxyalkanoates, a bioplastic. João works in the Biochemical Engineering Group (Bioeng, UCIBIO-NOVA FCT) where he operates bioreactors and works with microorganisms. Throughout his academic pathway, João has developed his knowledge in molecular biology, celular biology, bioengineering as well as protein purification.
