I am a Junior Researcher at i3S, University of Porto, where I lead an independent research team with 2 PhD students and 1 MSc student within the Host Targets of Infection group. I am also an Invited Assistant Professor of Microbiology at ICBAS, U.Porto. My research focuses on developing infection models and novel drugs against Mycobacterium infections. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator of two FCT projects: MycoPepTalking and IronCell2Cell. Additionally, I am an active member of global networks such as COST Actions ADVANCE-TB (21164) and EURESTOP (21145). In total, during my scientific career, I i) Participated in 16 funded projects working with national and international teams in the fields of microbiology, infection, and biophysics, being the Principal Investigator in 2 projects (totalling over 950k€). ii) Authored/co-authored 27 scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals, with more than 500 citations and an h-index of 16 (Scopus). iii) Supervised 2 PhD students (ongoing), 6 master and 7 undergraduate students, and mentored several young researchers. iv) Presented oral and poster communications in national and international meetings. v) Acted as a Reviewer and Associate Editor in different scientific journals. vi) Acted as a jury of academic degrees, public hiring processes, and external advisory board for doctoral theses, and scientific evaluation committees. vii) Am certified at the FELASA C category (functions A+B+D) and by DGAV for research with animals. viii) Have experience and technical independence for work within biosafety level 2 and 3 facilities.
