After completing my PhD (2007) I continued as a researcher in my Alma Mater (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine), working on the synthesis of coordination compounds. In 2009 I joined the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE), University of Lisbon, as a postdoctoral fellow and started the project devoted to the synthesis and magnetic applications of heterometallic complexes. Simultaneously I acquired the knowledge about catalysis and metal-mediated synthesis, then focusing on the study of reaction mechanisms by isotopic labeling and mass-spectrometry. From 2013 I am the person in charge of the GC/GCMS analytical lab at the CQE, where I perform investigations and conduct teaching courses for students and researchers. In 2015 I started a second postdoctoral project at the CQE devoted to coordination chemistry and catalysis. In 2018 I was promoted as a researcher at the CQE/IST-ID (R&D company at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon). I used my experience in coordination chemistry and catalysis to lead a team and carry out my own research line devoted to the development of novel processes for functionalization of C-H bonds of organic substrates, with special focus on the computational chemistry. In 2019 I was invited to visit the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL, Florida State Univ., US, the largest and highest-powered magnet lab in the world) to conduct a short-term research project and to study the polynuclear compounds and reaction intermediates by comprehensive HFEPR spectroscopy. I have 55 published papers, h = 23, cited 1300+ times (64% of these in the last 5 years) according to the WoS (av. cit./item = 26.7; av. jrnl. IF=5.0), among them 2 highly cited ones, 42 ones without my PhD supervisor, and 4 book chapters. I participated as a corr. author in 20 papers, including 14 ones as a single corr. author. I have 41 contributions to conferences, including 12 oral talks and 3 invited talks. I am an active reviewer for Inorg.Chem., Chem.Commun., Dalton Trans., Adv. Sci, Int. J. Quant. Chem, etc (146 reviews confirmed by the WoS; recognized as an outstanding reviewer for ChemCommun, 2022). In December 2018 I was invited to be a guest editor for the special issue in Catalysts (6 editors records confirmed by Publons). I was the member of the organizing committee of five scientific conferences, for 3 of which I have been the head of the program development team (XXII ISHC, 2022; 7th EuCheMS N-Ligands 2018; and XXV ICOMC, 2012; 1700 participants in total). I participated in 10+ competitive projects (PI in 4 grants, PI in 1 project and Co-PI in 1 project), financed by the FCT as well as institutions from Europe and US. My collaboration network involve researchers from EU, Ukraine and US. My experience as a scientific advisor involves co-supervision of 7 undergraduate and PhD students, as well as more than 20 students from international exchange programs. From 2013 I give an annual courses for students of the CQE devoted to the inorganic synthesis, catalysis and chromatography. From 2015 I am a member of the College of Chemistry of the University of Lisbon, where I regularly disseminate the results of my research to public through the meetings and lectures. My scientific skills cover synthetic (in)organic and coordination chemistry, crystallography (200+ small molecule structures finalized), homogeneous catalysis, analytical methods (chromatography) and computational chemistry (DFT and ab initio methods). My research interests focus on (1) molecular self-assembly and spontaneous self-organization processes in coordination chemistry; (2) development of green catalytic systems employing transition metal complexes as catalysts; (3) comprehensive investigations of catalytic mechanisms; (4) computational chemistry, modelling of reaction mechanisms, in silico search for new molecular catalysts.
