Ana Campilho is a plant biologist with a solid research track-record on plant physiology and development. She participated in highly- influent work on plant developmental genetics that resulted in high- impact biological science journals publications. Her research has been focusing on the genetic regulation of stem/ pluripotent cell division, cell fate decisions and tissue pattern formation. In the last years, Ana Campilho also got interested and engaged in plant biodiversity conservation, with a focus on Portuguese native flora. Finally, she is also increasingly dedicated to dissemination activities to promote appreciation for the importance and beauty of plants in our world, and the associated significance of plant science research. Ana Campilho graduated in Biology from the University of Porto (1996) and obtained a MSc in Cell Biology from the University of Coimbra (2001). She started her PhD education with the VII Gulbenkian Program in Biology and Medicine (1999) at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science (IGC), Oeiras, Portugal. Ana Campilho completed the PhD degree (2005) in Molecular Genetics from the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. Following a post-doctoral research period at University of Helsinki (Finland), she returned to Portugal in 2009 to work at the Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology, Porto. Since 2015, Ana Campilho is a researcher at BIOPOLIS- CIBIO (Research Center in Biodiversity and Natural Resources) and Invited Assistant Professor at Department of Biology, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto.
