The Action Group consists of more than 50 senior and early-career permafrost scientists, geophysicists, and engineers from
13 countries. Its main objective is to bring together the international community interested in geoelectrical measurements
on permafrost and to lay the foundations for an operational database of geoelectrical surveys on permafrost, in combination
with GTN-P (Global Terrestrial Network.

2023 - Current | Traveling to James Ross Island, Antarctica, and leading geophysical activities (8 weeks): I installed an automated Electrical Resistivity Tomography (AERT) system with a solar panel-driven battery and multi-electrode configuration at JSM site, associated with the existing GTN-P and CALM network in order to study the long-term climatic trend on the ground thermal regime. The system was equipped with a satellite datalink for the first time. I carried out EMI surveys for assessing active layer thickness across a larger area in a non-invasive manner
2022 - Current | Traveling to King George Island, Antarctica, and leading geophysical activities (4 weeks): I installed an automated Electrical Resistivity Tomography (AERT) system with a solar panel-driven battery and multi-electrode configuration at Barton peninsula, and in a site associated with the existing GTN-P network in order to study the long-term climatic trend on the ground thermal regime. I also carried out ERT surveys for assessing active layer thickness and contamination detection in several sites.
2022 - Current | Leading a geophysical activity in Stockhorn, Switzerland. I installed an automated Electrical Resistivity Tomography (AERT) system with a solar panel-driven battery and multi-electrode configuration at Stockhorn, Switzerland. The site is associated with the existing borehole and climate monitoring within the PERMOS network.
2020 - Current | Traveling to Livingston Island, Antarctica, and leading geophysical activities (5 weeks): I installed an automated Electrical Resistivity Tomography (AERT) system with a solar panel-driven battery and multi-electrode configuration at Reine Sofia site, associated with the existing GTN-P network in order to study the long-term climatic trend on the ground thermal regime. I also carried out EMI surveys for assessing active layer thickness across a larger area in a non-invasive manner
2019 - Current | Traveling to Deception Island and leading geophysical activities (5 weeks): I installed an automated Electrical Resistivity Tomography (AERT) system with a solar panel-driven battery and multi-electrode configuration at Deception Island, associated with the existing CALM and GTN-P networks in order to study the long-term climatic trend on the ground thermal regime as well as to investigate the impact of the short-lived extreme meteorological events on the soil horizon. I also carried out several ERT surveys across the island. |
