Beatriz Maria Lopes Custódio

Beatriz Custódio has a Master in Bioengineering with a specialization in Molecular Biotechnology, from the University of Porto. Currently, Beatriz is a PhD student at i3S (Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, Portugal) and she is interested in using nanotechnology for the development of new therapies for neurologic diseases. During her undergrad, Beatriz was involved in different research projects. In 2015, she integrated a research project at IBMC/i3S (Portugal) supervised by Cristina Ferrás at the Chromosome Instability and Dynamics group led by Helder Maiato. In 2017, Beatriz did an internship in University of Lund (Sweden) as a research student within the ERASMUS+ program. In Lund, Beatriz was focused on developing and testing a nanosurface modification for retinal implantable devices. By the end of 2017, Beatriz did her master thesis at i3S (Portugal) whose main focus was the study of the permeation of dendritic systems in an in vitro and in vivo ischemic blood-brain barrier models. Additionaly, Beatriz has experties in animal experiments and she attended the zebrafish course of Laboratory Animal Science following the Federation for European Laboratory Animal Science Association (FELASA) Category B regulation.
