Catarina Nobre has a degree in Biochemistry (FCT-UAlg), a MSc in Energy and Bioenergy (FCT-NOVA), and a PhD in Energy and Bioenergy (FCT-NOVA). She did a post-doc in effluent bioremediation (FCT-NOVA). During her PhD, she was a research fellow in several projects with companies in the bioenergy and waste management sectors (2014-2019), she taught several classes such as “Energy Production from Biomass”, “Production of Liquid Biofuels” and “Food Quality II”, among others (in the masters' degrees in Bioenergy and Food Technology and Safety of FCT-NOVA) and she co-supervised several MSc theses. Between 2020-2022 she was a researcher and team leader in CoLAB BIOREF, where her work was related with project proposal writing and service provisions. Currently, she is an Auxiliary Researcher at VALORIZA - Research Center for the Endogenous Resource Valorization (Portalegre Polytechnic University - IPP) and she’s collaborating in 10 international projects, coordinating one of them. She’s also the Science Communication Coordinator of WIRE COST Action (CA20127). Her teaching activities at IPP include "Hydrogen Safety and Handling" in the postgraduate program in Hydrogen, and "Integrated Waste and Environmental Management" in the postgradute program in Renewable Energies and Environment. Her main research interests are thermochemical conversion processes (e.g., gasification, pyrolysis, and hydrothermal processes) applied to lignocellulosic biomass waste, municipal solid waste, and waste-derived fuels, and more recently, the production of renewable gases (hydrogen and biomethane). As a result of her research activities, she has contributed to more than 90 publications, including peer-reviewed scientific articles, book chapters, conference papers, conference abstracts, theses, and posters (more details at https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5733-902X).

2022/09/27 - 2022/09/30 WASTE2H2 project offered a course on career development to the staff from IPPortalegre. The course included technical sessions on a range of core competency areas on successfully managing research funded projects and on career development training, with several career development opportunities . This training was at KIT and included sessions about: funding opportunities, proposal writing, managing (research), projects, managing research impact, managing Intellectual Property (IP), raising awareness – “from laboratory to market”, among others.
