Dr. Cristiana de Carvalho has finished her master degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2012 through the faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto with the GPA of 15 (in 20). She later concluded her PhD degree in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells in 3Bs Research group, in 2019/10/11, in Neurosciences, namely in peripheral nerve regeneration, with the highest qualitative grade "Menção honrosa de Muito Bom". Dr. Cristiana was immediately awarded with a postdoctoral fellowship under the project 2IQBIONEURO, which articulates a network of R&D in biological chemistry for the treatment of neurological diseases, specifically continuing her research path of neuronal research. During her PhD, she was a visiting/invited researcher at Neuroanatomy department in Hannover Medical School (Germany) and later at New Jersey Center for Biomaterials at Rutgers University. Furthermore, to be able to carry a secondment as invited/visiting researcher in the USA New Jersey Center for Biomaterials, she was awarded a full financial grant by FLAD. In the scope of her PhD, Dr. Cristiana published 7 manuscripts in specialized peer-reviewed journals as first author, 1 manuscript as co-author, 1 book chapter and is the author of 2 filled patents. Over the last 7 years as a researcher or a PhD candidate, Cristiana helped in the writing and actively participated in 6 different FCT or CE funded projects. She is now specialized in Biomaterials, Biomaterials characterization, nerve regeneration, growth factors, Tissue engineering and nerve guidance conduits. Overall, her good and impactful scientific work led to more than 20 participations in national and international conferences. Furthermore, she was also an invited speaker at the European Arthroscopy fellowship 2019/SPAT-ESSKA in 2019 at 3Bs research group.
