Luís Pedro Silva obtained his PhD in History from the University of Porto (Portugal) in June 2019, with a thesis entitled " The Climate of Northwest Portugal (1600-1855): from discourses to impacts". His research interests focus on Environmental History, with a special focus on Climate History. Most of his research endeavors over the last years have been directed towards contributing to the creation of a long-term history of climate in Portugal within the wider European context. Throughout his career, he has participated in major research projects, such as "KLIMHIST: Reconstruction and model simulations of past climate in Portugal using documentary and early instrumental sources (17th-19th century)" (2012-2015), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. He has disseminated his research at prestigious national and international conferences including the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU), the Annual Meeting of the European Meteorological Society (EMS), the Biennial Conference of the European Society for Environmental History (ESEH), the Congress of Portuguese Geography (CGP) or the Conference of the Portuguese Economic and Social History Association (APHES). He is author of many publications, which include books chapters and articles in high-quality national and international journals, such as Nature (JCR Impact Factor 2019: 42.778; Quartile Ranking Q1), Climatic Change (4.134; Q1), Historia Agraria (0,634; Q2) or Climate Research (2.023; Q3). He was involved in the creation and management of the Portuguese Network of Environmental History (https://reportha.org/en/). He also organized some scientific events, highlighting the 4th CITCEM Conference (5-7 November 2015), held at the University of Porto under the theme «Crossing Borders: Connecting Edges of Environmental History» (http://www.citcem.org/4encontro/). At present, he collaborates in the study of great 17th-21st century floods and droughts and their impacts, within the frame of collaborative research with European experts on Historical Climatology.
