António is a highly qualified professional with a robust academic background and extensive experience in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and microbiology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biology (2008), a Master of Science degree in Molecular Genetics (2011), and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Molecular and Environmental Biology (2017). His doctoral research, conducted collaboratively across three research institutions — CBMA and IBMC in Portugal, and Rowan University in New Jersey, USA — focused on elucidating the functions of sphingolipids, particularly in the context of cellular stress responses and signaling pathways activation. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship (2017-2018) and later joined the EcoAgriFood project team as a Researcher (2019-2020) at CBMA. Since 2020, António has served as an Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology, where he imparts his expertise to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Throughout his career, António has been actively engaged in research and development projects. His scholarly contributions are evidenced by 10 published journal articles in top-tier Q1 journals, comprising 8 Original Research Papers and 2 Reviews. Furthermore, he has presented his work at numerous international and national conferences, delivering both oral and poster presentations. In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, António has demonstrated a strong commitment to mentoring and supervision, having supervised 6 bachelor's and 1 master's student, and provided assistance to 14 others. He has also served as a member of 7 Bachelor/Master juries as the main referee, contributing to the academic evaluation process. Beyond academia, António actively participates in outreach activities, including organizing scientific meetings, Science Festivals, and European Researchers' Nights. Notably, António's project WINE-TUNNING (EXPL/BAA-AGR/1096/2021) secured funding from the FCT, underscoring the significance and quality of his research endeavors.
