Carlos Manuel Soares is a PhD student in Sport Sciences - Physical Activity and Health at the Faculty of Sports Science and Physical Education, University of Coimbra and Adjunct Professor at Higher Institute of Educational Sciences - Douro. Currently teaches courses in Exercise Biochemistry, Epidemiology of Physical Activity. He is a member of the International Society for Exercise and Immunology. He received his Master of Science in High Performance Training from the University of Lisbon - Faculty of Human Kinetics - in 2007 and Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health and Sports from Instituto Superior de Ciências de Saúde do Norte in 2003. His main research interest is the Molecular Physiology of exercise. Carlos Soares current research focus is on the effect of lifelong sport practice on immune system and on the cellular and molecular mechanisms associated to the relative cancer risk decrease. Carlos Soares (co)authored seven articles in international peer-reviewed journals, four abstracts or posters in international conferences, and two dissertations. Carlos Soares has also been an ad-hoc volunteer reviewer for two different scientific journals.
