Susana Schmitz is a PhD candidate at ISCTE - Lisbon University Institute, with a Master's degree in Work, Organizational, and Personnel Psychology from the University of Coimbra and the University of Valencia (double-degree) being granted a 2-year full scholarship by the European Commission. She holds an FCT PhD studentship and has been a Research Fellow at Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics for four years, in the project "Bidirectional ageism and fairness perceptions in the workplace: How to realize the potential of age diversity in organizations", funded by Fundação Francisco Manual dos Santos. She has authored/co-authored 3 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 1 article in the Academy of Management Proceedings, 2 books, 2 book chapters, and 1 encyclopedia entry. She is a former deputy coordinator of the Psychange research group of CIS-IUL- ISCTE. She has also presented her work to the general audience, in APPDI - Associação Portuguesa para a Diversidade e Inclusão and worked as an HR practitioner and an independent consultant on age diversity and retirement planning issues. She is a lecturer at Católica-Lisbon and a member of the COST Action LeverAge.
