Elsa Lorthe, RM, PhD Elsa Lorthe was born in 1985 in France. She worked as a midwife and coordinator of clinical and epidemiological studies from 2008 to 2014, and obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health and Epidemiology in 2014. In 2017, she completed a PhD in Perinatal Epidemiology in France (INSERM U1153, Team EPOPé and Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris). She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at ISPUP (Portugal), working for the RECAP preterm project (funded by the EU), and is involved in several national and international collaborations. She is also the co-scientific director of the TOCOPROM trial (PI: Prof Gilles Kayem, Trousseau Hospital, Paris, France). She has a special interest in the evaluation of interventions in vulnerable populations, with focuses on perinatal health and obstetric interventions among migrant and native women, strategies for optimizing antenatal care in women with preterm premature rupture of membranes, obstetric determinants of the preterm child’s prognosis, neonatal infections of the preterm infant and evidence-based medicine and maternity units’ policies of care. She has published 22 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals. She is currently supervising a master student in global health and a research assistant, and co-supervising two PhD students in global health and epidemiology. Before that, she supervised 2 midwive students for their Master degree theses, 1 Master student (Epidemiology) and 1 statistician. She has received 10 awards and/or honors, including the prestigious fellowship L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science.
