Beatriz F. Ribeiro is a young researcher and PhD student, currently enrolled in the Doctoral Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) by the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra (UC). She has received an FCT PhD studentship to develop her PhD work plan under the supervision of Dr. Luís Ribeiro, at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC-UC). Beatriz holds a 1st cycle degree in Biomedical Sciences, by the University of Aveiro (UA), and a master's degree in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine, by NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA). Her master's dissertation was developed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sandra Vieira, at the Institute of Biomedicine (iBiMED, UA), and the main goal of her thesis was to establish molecular tools, including the CRISPR/Cas9 system, to study potentially neuroregenerative genes. Her main interests include neurosciences, gene editing, and molecular biology. Beatriz has published 1 journal article, as first co-author, and has authored 2 poster communications at national and international conferences.
