Arnab Banerjee (AB), a successful researcher in the industry (15 months, Chembiotek, India) and academia (over 6 years in India, USA, and Portugal), completed his Master in Chemistry in 2008/05/31 from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, and he obtained his PhD in 2014/11/03 from The University of Burdwan. Presently, he is a contracted researcher at the Centro de Inovaço em Biomedicina e Biotecnologia (CIBB), formerly known as Universidade de Coimbra Centro de Neurociências e Biologia Celular. He published 54 articles in various high-impact journals (4 corresponding authors, 10 first authors, 15-second authors, and 14 third authors), which were cited 2220 times. Arnab's h index is 25, and he has received 4 international awards and/or honours, like the Marie Curie IF Fellowship, the FCT post-doctoral fellowship, the FCT Jr. Investigator Fellowship, and the CSIR-SRF (India). He is a committee member of 4 different scientific organisations like Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), the Controlled Release Society (CRS) and the European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Since 2018, AB has contributed for teaching in several post-graduation programs including the BEB PhD Program and Integrated Master’s in Biomedical Engineering (in this case for the mandatory curricular unit called “Regenerative Medicine”). The syllabus of the Regenerative Medicine curricular unit includes and non-cellular-based therapies using extracellular vesicles. AB delivered a lecture on the use of sEV as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for several diseases. Until now, AB was mentoring or supervised 7 master’s and 7 PhD, students. AB work as a guest editor for JoVE ((https://www.jove.com/methods-collections/2357). He was invited as a reviewer for various international journals from the publisher like Royal Society, Springer Nature, Elsevier etc. AB was invited as a chair for a session “Extracellular vesicles bioengineering” for the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB2023) 2023 conference. During that session, he was took part as a jury for the selection of the best oral presentation. AB has been the coordinator of several pieces of equipment (ultracentrifugation, NTA, Brookhaven ZetaPALS, hypoxia incubator) used for sEV isolation and characterization at UC-Biotech, University of Coimbra. in the last 5 years. AB responsibilities include: (i) technical, scientific and training support to users of those equipments, with the mentoring of more than 15 young researchers in the last years; (ii) user support for sample preparation, instrument handle, troubleshooting and analysis; (iii) support for experimental design and implementation of new methodologies suitable to the needs of researchers and (iv) coordination and maintenance of the unit. This position gave her the opportunity to establish collaborations with national and international researchers. Further, AB has expertise in the bio-conjugation, purification of sEVs or Antibodies after modification etc. AB helps other researcher to solve their problems and trains young researches in that field.
