Inês Torres is a master¿s student in the Integrated Ocean Studies program at the University of Azores (Portugal). She obtained her BSc degree in Biology and Geology at the University of Minho (Portugal) in 2021. During the BSc study, Inês obtained theoretical and practical knowledge in key subjects related to biology and geology. During the MSc, she acquired theoretical and practical knowledge connected to marine biology, oceanography, and conservation & management of the oceans and all that it includes. Currently, she is working on her master's thesis entitled: Spatial and temporal patterns of sperm whales sounds in the Azores archipelago. The main aim is to determine the spatial and temporal patterns of occurrence and activity of sperm whales in the Azores, through the analysis of the acoustic production of this species. This summer, Inês was one of the 20 students that were selected for the 2022 Marine Robotics Summer School that took place on the island of Faial, in the Azores. The 2022 Marine Robotics Summer School was organized by the MIT Portugal Program in collaboration with MIT (Massachusetts Institute), LSTS (FEUP), and Okeanos - Institute of Marine Sciences (University of Azores).
