Gustavo Soutinho is academic and researcher specializing in applied mathematics and biostatistics. He earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Porto (FCUP), focusing on multi-state models, transition probabilities, and joint modeling of longitudinal and survival data. He also held a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from FCUP and a master's in Statistics from the University of Minho. He also completed a postgraduate program in Information Systems at the same institution. Since 2016, Soutinho has taught at various higher education institutions, including the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS), the University of Minho, and the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave. Currently, he is associate Professor at the University Portucalense and invited Professor at the University of Minho. He also served as a researcher at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (FEP) and the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP). His professional experience includes roles at the National Institute of Statistics (INE), BOSCH Car Multimedia Portugal, and hospitals in Guimarães and Braga, where he worked on projects related to biostatistics, sampling, estimation, and multivariate statistical process control.
