Violeta Ferreira is currently a laboratory technician at Escola Universitária Vasco da Gama, being in charge of the zebrafish animal facility and supporting research activities. She enrolled on a PhD in Biology and Ecology of Global Changes at University of Aveiro, Department of Biology & Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies in 2014. She holds a MSc in Cell and Molecular Biology (2010) and a 4-year degree in Biology (2008), both academic degrees awarded by the University of Aveiro (UA). She produced 10 ISI papers and participated in 5 national and international R&D projects. Additionally, Violeta presented 3 oral communications and 9 posters in scientific conferences and meetings. She was also invited speaker in the laboratory animal sciences advance course Cal-Aqua at CIIMAR - University of Porto (2014-2015). In 2012 she obtained the FELASA category C certificate, as well as DGAV authorization, to handle and direct animal experiments. Since 2012, Violeta is also part of the Animal Welfare Committee (ORBEA) of Department of Biology, University of Aveiro. Her scientific interests includes: nanotechnology and nanotoxicology; functional ecology, climate change, fish physiology, 3Rs in animal research & animal welfare.
