Rui Miguel Barreiros Ruben has a BS.C (5 years), a BS.C and also a Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering, all three in Instituto Superior Técnico. Rui Ruben is Professor at Polytechnic of Leiria since 2001, where he has been responsible for several disciplines on Computational Mechanics and Biomechanics. Rui also has 1 Ph.D supervision already concluded, in Biomedical Engineering. It is a partnership between the University of Lisbon and the University of Ghent. Nowadays, Rui has 3 more Ph.D students. Rui B. Ruben was the first coordinator of the BS.c. degree in Biomechanics in 2005/06. Rui B. Ruben was Mechanical Engineering Department director from 2014 to 2016. Nowadays he is Director of Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP), and Presidentof Portuguese Society on Biomechanics .His main research areas are Biomechanics, leading two projects: Software development for arthroplasty preparation (concluded) and Design and manufacturing of tracheal stents (on going). He also is part of other projects as team member.
