I am currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. I also hold a MSc in Evolutionary and Developmental Biology (2014) and a degree in Biology (2011) from the same faculty. I am conducting my doctoral work at cE3c (Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes) and my main research interests encompass several topics in the field of evolutionary biology, with a particular emphasis on the mechanisms of ecotype formation and speciation. During my MSc thesis, I worked with the intertidal gastropod species Littorina fabalis, in an effort to characterize the genetic and morphological variation between the different ecotypes of this species across a wide geographical range. For my PhD, I moved my focus to another gastropod species (Littorina saxatilis), in an effort to understand the evolutionary history of the ecotypes in this species, focusing mainly in disentangling the relative contribution of natural selection and demographic processes towards ecotype formation. I am also interested in the development of new tools for inferring past demographic events in populations and a significant portion of my work is devoted to the creation of an approximate Bayesian computation framework capable of simulating genomic data obtained through pooled sequencing. During my scientific career, I participated and organized several scientific events, including meetings and conferences. I have also published my work in three manuscripts as a first author (one is under revision) and co-authored another one.
