João Ramôa Correia holds a 5-year degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering (2001), a MSc in Construction (2004), a PhD (2008) and Habilitation (2015) in Civil Engineering (IST/ULisbon). He is Full Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon (ULisbon), where he (i) teaches courses related with Construction Technology and Building Pathology and Rehabilitation and (ii) coordinates a research group (CORE, http://coregroup.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/) at CERIS (research unit of IST), which conducts research, development and teaching activities on advanced fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite systems for civil engineering applications. The main research areas of the CORE group are the mechanical behaviour of FRP composites systems, connection technology, long-term performance, durability, fire behaviour and sustainability. João Ramôa Correia has participated in 20 (coordinated 6) research projects (mostly related with FRP structures, total funding +5.5 MEuros), supervised 21 PhD theses (+9 ongoing) and 99 MSc dissertations (+ 10 ongoing), and co-authored >200 papers in SCI journals (h=43 in Scopus, 12/2023). He developed relevant FRP projects in Portugal, namely (i) the São Mateus Footbridge (2013, hybrid GFRP-steel); (ii) the São Silvestre Footbridge (2015, hybrid GFRP-concrete); and (iii) the Clickhouse (2015, all-GFRP modular housing system) and collaborated in the (iv) A33 hydraulic underpasses (2022). He has also collaborated in more than 300 advanced consultancy studies in different domains (laboratory tests in materials and structures, load tests, field inspections, structural surveys, advanced numerical simulations of civil engineering structures). He is member of the Editorial Board of the following SCI journals: Journal of Composites for Construction (Associate Editor), Composite Structures and Fire Safety Journal. He was leader of CEN TC250 Project Team WG4.T2 "FRP Structures" (2018-22), which developed the Technical Specification (future Eurocode) for the Design of Fibre-Polymer Composite Structures (October 2022). In 2012, he was the recipient of the IABSE Prize attributed by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), in 2016 he received the IIFC Distinguished Young Researcher Award attributed by the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC) and in 2023 he received the IIFC President's Award.
