Joana Ferreira has a degree in Chemistry (2005) from Faculty of Sciences of University of Lisbon, a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry and Natural Products (2008) and a PhD in Chemistry (2014), both from University of Aveiro. She is an Invited Adjunct Professor in Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, School of Ahriculture, teaching Physics, Instrumental Analysis, Certification, Physical and Rheological Analysis in Food, Chemical and Physical Analysis in Food, Human Nutrition, Biochemistry, Food Biotechnology and Bioproducts Development. She is a supervisor of a PhD, a Master student and four undergraduate students from Biology and Food Biotechnology and Food Quality and Human Nutrition Degrees, and already supervised several Msc. thesis and several Erasmus students. She is collaborator researcher in LEAF – Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food Research Center, belonging to the research group Food and Feed (G3). During her research career she has contributed for the elaboration of more than 30 articles in international journals with scientific referees and participated in several conferences with oral and poster communications. Joana main research areas focuses on food nutritional and chemical characterization, food processing technologies, development of innovative food products incorporated with new sources of ingredients (algae, food processing industry by-products), biorefinery and circular economy, improvement of technological and sensory properties of newly developed food, and analytical and organic chemistry (natural products synthesis, structural elucidation and characterization, green chemistry methodologies). Interest on Glyphosate uses and its impact on human health.
