Joana Sampaio graduated in Nutrition and Food Sciences from Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences, University of Porto (FCNAUP) in 2015, during which she collaborated in the writing of scientific material produced in the frame of her academic internship. In that same year, she was invited to join the Public Health initiative - PRONUTRISENIOR project, funded by the EEA Grants (EEA-ISP/000081NU5), in which she remained until 2016. She obtained a Master's degree in Public Health by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto (FMUP), in 2019, with the thesis “Exposure to abuse and food insecurity among older adults in Porto". During 2018-2019, she was a Researcher at Public Health Institute, University of Porto (ISPUP), in the scope of the HARMED Project (PTDC/IVC-SOC/6782/2014; POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016670). Currently is a PhD student in Physical Activity and Health and Researcher at the Research Center of Physical Activity, Health and Leisure (CIAFEL) and Faculty of Sport, University of Porto (FADEUP), with an individual grant by the Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BD/146241/2019). Her PhD project is framed in FCNAUP's project "MED-E: Multidimensional health impact of an Exercise and Diet intervention in Elderly", in which she is collaborating. She also collaborates with FADEUP and FCNAUP in the scope of the Body and Brain project (PTDC/SAU-DES/31808/2017; POCI-01-0145-FEDER-031808). Co-supervised a degree thesis at FCNAUP, has one published article in a national journal and oral communications and presentations. The current research interests focus on geriatric nutrition, as well as the biological, social, and economic determinants of aging, working in the areas of Medical and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on Geriatric Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Public Health, and Epidemiology.
