Ana Almeida holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering (2003) from University of Minho, a MSc in Electronic and Computer Engineering ¿ Specialization in Industrial Informatics (1996) from University of Porto, a BSc in Industrial Informatics (1993) and a BSc in Electronic Engineering (1990) both from Polytechnic Institute of Oporto - Institute of Engineering. She is a Coordinator Teacher at the Institute of Engineering of Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP/IPP), Sub Director of two post-graduation programmes, in BigData & Decision Making and Industry 4.0. She is also the President of the ISEP Scientific Council since 2018, a council she has been a member of since 2007. In this role, Ana Almeida has been responsible for coordinating ISEP's R&D and education strategy, particularly concerning research areas and priority areas for establishing study programmes at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Ana Almeida is responsible for the diverse accreditation processes of all ISEP Study Programmes, namely: A3ES (Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education); EUR-ACE (a framework and accreditation system that provides a set of standards that identifies high-quality engineering degree programmes in Europe and abroad) and ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.). She was a member of the team responsible for preparing and submitting IPP's Institutional Assessment process to A3ES, and was responsible for coordinating this process at ISEP. She is a member of the A3ES board of programme evaluators, and also a member of ANI (Nacional Agency for Innovation) board of I&D projects evaluators. In both these positions, she has already evaluated several study programmes and research projects. She is a Senior Researcher of GECAD (Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation and Development, UIDP/00760/2020 and UIDB/00760/2020), a R&D unit ranked as Excellent by the Portuguese Science&Technology Foudation (FCT). She is also member of LASI (Associated Laboratory of Intelligent Systems LA/P/0104/2020), the Portuguese AI Associated Lab recognized by FCT. In the past few years, she has taught and been responsible for several courses on Decision Support Systems, Information Systems, and Artificial Intelligence at the graduate and postgraduate levels. Participates and/or participated as Principal investigator (PI) or Co-Principal investigator (Co-PI) in 6 projects and Researcher in more than 20 project(s). She works in the area(s) of ambient Intelligence, decision support systems, and intelligent systems. Her R&D work had applications to different domains, namely: -Tourism (in projects TheRoute, GROUPLANNER, Smartravel, ATT); Industry 4.0 (in projects InVALUE, INVALUE_PT, NIS, PIANISM, Cyberfactory, SECOIIA, produtech_R3); Health Care and Wellbeing (in projects like PHE, AIRDOC, Inno4health, Secur-e-health, Daisy). Published about 78 papers in journals, books, and international conferences. Organized several international conferences/workshops. Supervised 3 concluded PhD thesis(es) e has 1 PhD supervision ongoing. Supervised or co-supervised more than thirty MSc dissertation(s). Over the years she reviewed papers for more than 10 different journals and was a member of more than 40 international conferences and scientific program committees. Has received 3 awards and/or honors. Throughout her career, she has held various positions, including Director of the CICESI research group at the IPP School of Technology and Management (2003-2008), Head of ISEP's Department of Computer Engineering (2007-2014) and President of ISEP's Pedagogical Council (2014-2016). In her professional activities, she interacted with teams from different countries (e.g. Spain, Canada, USA, Czech Republic, Turkey, Italy,..) and different kinds of organizations, (Academic and Research Institutions, Business Organizations, Public Entities, Professional Associations, Accreditation Entities. ..).
