Bernardo Miguel Batista da Costa is a Ph.D. Student in the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon (IGOT-UL) and an FCT PhD fellowship holder (2022-2026), with the title "Trends, controls and impacts of coastal changes in the Arctic. The case study of the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula". He has a MSc degree in Physical Geography and Spatial Planning from the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon (IGOT-ULISBOA), with a classification of 17/20. He graduated in Geography and Regional Planning from the School of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA Lisbon University (NOVA FCSH), with a classification of Muito Bom (16/20). During his graduate years, he was distinguished with the NOVA Young Talent 2018, for being the first-year student with the highest average in his course. His main research interests are in the Physical Geography area, such as Arctic Shoreline Change, Coastal Geomorphology, Remote Sensing, Coastal Dynamics and Permafrost Studies. He integrated the ULISBOA research team for the EU-funded Nunataryuk project - Permafrost thaw and the changing Arctic coast, part of the Work Package 2 - Coastal Erosion, coordinated by IGOT-UL. During his graduate years, he had two internship periods as a research intern at the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Center (CICS-NOVA) (from March 2018 to June 2018 and from April 2019 to June 2019). His MSc dissertation "Remote Sensing Analysis of Recent Coastal Change and Controlling Factors in Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula (Beaufort Sea Coast, Canada" was classified as an 18/20. This dissertation was a contribution to the projects NUNATARYUK and T-MOSAiC. He has also produced several posters and presented at Portuguese and international conferences such as the Arctic Science Summit Week, the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2022, the EUCOP 2023 and the Portuguese Polar Conference. He has presented his works at several different conferences. He was a voluntary organizing assistant for the Arctic Science Summit Week 2021. He has an English Level C1, awarded by the Certificate in Advanced English Exam of the Cambridge English Language Assessment.
