Armando Jorge Sousa (PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering 2004, University of Porto - Faculty of Engineering) is an Associate Professor at the University of Porto - Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) and a senior researcher at the Centre for Intelligent and Industrial Systems (CRIIS) at the INESC TEC research centre. His research interests span Robotics, perception and Higher Education, with a current focus on Robot Learning. He applies his knowledge to develop intelligent robots for agriculture, forestry, and the manipulation of flexible objects. He is "ING.PAED.IGIP" IGIP certified. He received several honours both in pedagogical and in the areas of robotics. Dr. Sousa has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and holds a patent for a cork stopper identification device. He (co-)supervised more than 90 successful MSc and 4 PhDs whilst currently supervising 7 PhD. He contributes to projects such as "Hi-Rev", "IntelWheels 2" and "blockchain.pt".
