Hugo Dinis is an Assistant Researcher in CMEMS-UMinho at University of Minho, responsible for project neXtSense - Work Package P09 . He finished his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2021 at the University of Minho and the M.Sc. Degree in Biomedical Engineering (specialization in Medical Electronics) in 2015 by the same University. His innovative PhD work was awarded the IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Doctoral Research Grant. He was also distinguished with the Caixa Geral de Depósitos University of Minho student award (2015) for his top performance as a M.Sc. student. He has 7 years of experience lecturing the experimental components of curricular units such as Electronics, Circuit Analysis, Project and Design of Circuits, Electronic Complements and Digital Circuits, Microcontrollers and Interfaces, Advanced Bioinstrumentation and Electromagnetic Waves and Antennas, for which he was awarded the 2024 School of Engineering Pedagogic Merit Award. Hugo has participated in 8 funded research projects, one of which as PI where the goal was to develop a miniaturized ultrasound probe based on the photoacoustic effect and phased array technology. Despite his exceptionally early-stage scientific career, H. Dinis is a proficient researcher with a good publishing track-record: he published 12 papers in Q1 and Q2 peer-reviewed international journals, with a h-index of 7 and over 270 citations, according to Scopus (2024). He is also a co-author of 2 European Patents and a Provisional Patent Application. He has worked with co-authors from international institutions such as the Grenoble Institute of Neurosciente (France), University of Tunis (Tunisia) and the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory - INL. He has also presented 5 of his works in international conferences and actively contributes to the scientific community as a peer-reviewer, Review Editor and Guest Editor for several journals. H. Dinis has integrated multiple academic Master Thesis examination board as opponent. H. Dinis' research interests include, but are not limited to, radiofrequency applications, electronics and telecommunications. He has extensive experience with antenna and antenna array design and characterization, electromagnetic simulation, electronic circuit design, fast prototyping techniques, programming, design and testing of radiofrequency systems. H. Dinis is also a certified level 3 amateur radio operator (CR7BNX)
