Dulce Oliveira completed her Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and earned her MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2008 from the University of Minho. She is an Invited Assistant Professor at FEUP and a Junior Researcher at the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI). She has published 27 articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to 7 book sections. Currently, she supervises 3 PhD theses and 5 MSc theses and has previously supervised 16 MSc theses. Dulce has been recognized with 5 awards and honors, including an EIC Pathfinder Award in 2024, an FCT Scientific Employment Stimulus in 2020, and a nationally funded project in 2018. Her professional collaborations extend to 114 co-authors in scientific publications. Her research focuses on cutting-edge topics such as reproductive biomechanics, vaginal delivery simulation, women's pelvic anatomy, finite element analysis, soft tissue characterization, and the integration of machine learning with traditional engineering simulations. She also emphasizes model trustworthiness, physics-informed machine learning, digital twins, and advanced design. Specific areas of interest include patient-specific biomechanical modeling, constitutive models, and the synergy between simulation and machine learning to drive productivity and innovation. Her work frequently addresses topics like vaginal delivery simulation, biomechanics of the pubic symphysis, and patient-oriented computational models, contributing significantly to advancements in healthcare and engineering applications.
