Current Position: co-head of the Advanced Breast Advanced Innovation Translational Research Lab (ADBCancer Lab). ¿¿ I received a PhD from the Centre d¿Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (Université de la Méditerranée, France) in 2002, for my studies on antigen delivery on dendritic cells with liposomes for optimal activation of CD4 and CD8 T cells. Then I pursued a post-doctoral training at the MRC Centre for Immune Regulation in the laboratory of Professor Ian MacLennan (University of Birmingham, UK). My work focused on dissecting the molecular determinants governing the emergence of Th2 and TFh cells in vivo in response to immunization with alum-conjugated antigen. In 2011 I joined the laboratory of Bruno Silva-Santos at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular | João Lobo Antunes (Lisbon, Portugal) to study the transcriptional regulation of gd T cells. ¿¿ I am currently a consolidator researcher of the FCT investigator programme, and since 2021 I Co-lead the ADBCancer Lab of the iMM-CARE. We are developing a line of research dedicated on understanding the human breast tumour microenvironment to find innovative ways to control cancer progression and evolution towards metastasis. We aim to find novel molecular mechanisms responsible for therapeutic resistance and therefore contribute to the development of more efficient and specific treatment protocol in breast cancer patients. ¿ In the last 5 years, I have published 13 of my 43 publications, including 3 co-last and co-corresponding author articles in PLoS Biology (IF 9.16), and Journal of Immunology (IF 4.53) and a co-corresponding author review in Nature Reviews Immunology (IF 41.98), besides authorship in Science Immunology, Cancer Immunology Research, and Cardiovascular Research. I have participated in collaborative reviews in Frontiers in Immunology (IF 5.51), and Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy (IF 4.22), with national collaborators (I3S Porto) and with a European Cost-Action on Myeloid Regulatory Cells (http://www.mye-euniter.eu/) respectively, demonstrating my active dedication to networking activities. ¿ My h factor is 28 and my internationally refereed papers accumulated an impact factor of 237 and have been cited over 3996 times (ResearchGate), and my Research Gate score is 33.54 (higher than 92.5% of RG members). ¿ As a principal investigator, I have been awarded 2 personal fellowships from FCT (investigator FCT); 3 project grants (1*FCT (R&D project), 2*Fundo iMM-Laço), and the Gilead Génese Program award. As co-PI and participant I have been granted 2 FCT project grants. As co-PI I have also received the 1st prize of the 2nd Edition of the Prémio Janssen Inovação. ¿¿ I have been invited to give talks at the international meeting on cancer innovation of the CUF conferences (Porto, Lisbon, 2017) and the European Human Genetics Conference (Gothenburg, Sweden, 2019). I have acted as scientific evaluator for Breast Cancer Now (UK) and Prémios Pfizer to Basic Investigation. I am also a scientific reviewer for EMBO Reports, Scientific Reports, Oncoimmunology, European Journal of Immunology, and PLoS ONE. ¿¿ Since 2023 I am in the committee of the Portuguese Immuno-Oncology SPO-SPI Group. Between 2018-2021, I was a board member of the Portuguese Society of Immunology. ¿¿ I have many activities associated to supervision and teaching, and in 2018 I was recruited as invited Professor Auxiliar in Basic Immunology (at 10% by FMUL). I have been involved in advanced teaching at Universities of Lisbon (PhD LisbonBioMed program, Masters of Oncobiology, and Infectious diseases), and Porto (PhD GABBA program. I have supervised 1 PhD student, and have been a tutor in 4 thesis committees and I have been invited as PhD and MSc examiner at Portuguese academic institutions. I am currently supervising 1 PhD student and co-supervising 3 PhD students and I have also successfully supervised 8 Master and 6 Erasmus students (7 pursuing a PhD)
