Behnam Keshtkarhesamabadi is currently a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Human Kinetics of Lisbon University majoring in Exercise Physiology. He holds a master´s degree in Sports Science from Shiraz University, Iran. While pursuing his master's program as a professional sprint runner, he initiated his scientific projects by translating the book titled 'Nutrition and Metabolism in Sports, Exercise, and Health by Jie Kang' and he has also been significantly involved in designing and developing research questions and methods, recruiting participants, data collection and analysis, and scientific writing. The first research investigation that he embarked upon was his master’s thesis with the published article retrieved from it titled: " The effect of the training program with moderate and high-intensity exercises on Neuropeptide -Y Hormone and Ghrelin in fat Sprague Dawley rats". After graduation, he joined two research groups and got involved in different research projects with a focus on the influence of exercise training interventions on cardiovascular function/dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes, and the impact of brain-spinal stimulation interventions on exercise performance in elite athletes. Besides, he delivered oral presentations on the findings of his investigation at three national congresses, and he participated and was certified in some educational workshops, namely ‘Principles of Advanced SPSS’, Principles of Real-Time PCR”, SDS-PAGE and Western Blot, and Flow Cytometry. Among others, the main publications are within the following topics: Neuro-Doping in professional athletes, Brain-Spinal electrical Stimulation using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (TMS & tES, PEMF), athletic performance enhancement, cognitive functions and motor tasks assessment in elite athletes, evaluating the fatigue, motivation, and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) after neuromodulation, different exercise training interventions including resistance training (RT), high-intensity interval training (HIIT), moderate-intensity continues training (MICT), cardiovascular function and dysfunction in people with diabetes T2, blood pressure, flow-mediated dilation, adropin, nitric oxide (NOx), carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT), Dickkopf-1 (Dkk-1), sclerostin, lipoproteins (HDL, LDL, VLDL), energy balance (EB), neuropeptide-Y (NPY), Ghrelin, Appelin and Omentin. Concerning technical and practical experiences, he is skilled at determining body composition with bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and anthropometric measurements, adept at assessing biological age through reading and analyzing x-ray images of children and adolescents' hands to predict skeletal age and adult height using Tanner-Whitehouse 2 and 3 methods, expert in non-invasive electrical and magnetic brain stimulation administration, adept at evaluating cognitive tasks using computer-based tests including MMSE, MoCA, and CANTAB tests, evaluating fatigue, motivation, and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) using various scales, experienced in running EEG and EMG tests and measuring Ox/Deoxygenation in the brain via HEG, measuring heart rate using Polygraph device (e.g. Finger Pulse Oximeter Spo2), experienced with a digital and non-digital dynamometer, and proficiency with tissue, and blood sampling in animal samples, especially rats. In terms of professional background, he has taught theoretical and practical courses for many years as a university lecturer at Iranian universities. Additionally, he has a few years of expertise in monitoring and teaching gym patrons about resistance training as a gym instructor at Shiraz University and the Medical University of Shiraz. Eventually, he holds different international and national certifications including ISAK- level one anthropometrist, track and field, bodybuilding, volleyball, football, physical fitness, table tennis, classic massage, and track and field referee as well.
