Sara Peixoto is a Junior Researcher at the University of Aveiro (2023; financially supported by FCT through a contract under the Scientific Employment Stimulus Individual Call - ref. 2022.08041.CEECIND). Her academic pathway started with her graduation in Biotechnology (2013) at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, and MSc in Microbiology (2015) at the University of Aveiro. In 2022, she finished her PhD in Biology and Ecology of Global Changes at the University of Aveiro, financially supported by a 4-year FCT grant. After their PhD, she was a fellow researcher in the R&D project ECOCENE: Efeitos ecológicos de (nano)agro-produtos em ecosystems do solo at the University of Aveiro, and a post-doc researcher at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, under the project DrosuGreen: Controlling the quarantine pest Drosophila suzukii through epidemiological studies and new green biocontrol techniques. Her main research line is microbial ecotoxicology with a special focus on the responses of soil microbiome to distinct agro-products exposure, such as conventional pesticides/fungicides, copper and silver based-nanomaterials, and nanoparticles, mycoinsecticides (entomopathogenic fungi - Metharizium spp. and Beauveria spp.), microbial based-plant biostimulants), under distinct exposure scenarios (in vitro studies, microcosm, mesocosm, and field experiments). Currently, her scientific research interest is focused on the interactions between microbial-based-plant biostimulants and soil rhizosphere microbiomes, with particular emphasis on recovering the functionality of degraded areas affected by anthropogenic stresses (intensive agriculture and burned soils). She is (co)author of eight publications in international peer-reviewed journals (five as first author), and 31 communications to (inter)national conferences (eight as oral presentations). She participated in three international and two national research projects as a team member or collaborator. She participated in several outreach activities by disseminating scientific knowledge for (un)specialized audiences. She has received 6 awards.
