Michael Russo is a Junior Researcher in the CESAM associated laboratory at the University of Aveiro (UA/CESAM/GEMAC), holds a MSc degree in Sustainable Energy Systems and a PhD in Energy Systems and Climate Change doctoral program, with the thesis entitled "Decarbonising Portugal: Impact of climate change on renewable energy resources". He has 20 published papers (h-index of 12, almost 400 citations), has presented his work in over 10 international conferences, published online articles on the topic of energy and in an industry oriented technical magazine related to the energy industry. He has participated in several EU and national projects, and has secured CAMPUS TEC PT2020/CENTRO2020 funding for a proof-of-concept project, and is currently the University of Aveiro lead of the research line “PO3. Energías renovables y digital” of the European Southwest microregion (CRUSOE). He is currently teaching energy and modelling related subjects at his university and is supervising two MSc and one PhD student on climate change, energy and air quality modelling topics. His main expertise is on energy production from renewable energy sources, air quality modelling and the effects of climate change on renewable resource variability and air quality.
