Massimo Milella is a doctoral student in Theatre Studies, currently in the third year of enrollment, dedicated to the elaboration of the thesis entitled "Connections between the aesthetics of still life in painting and the experiences of theatre/performance in the Third Millennium," under the guidance of Professor Rui Pina Coelho at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and at Université Paul Valery III in Montpellier, France. Milella has presented interventions and communications at various conferences, including the fifth edition of the EASTAP Conference in Aarhus, Denmark, and the study day "Ressourcing - Sharing - Performing: A platform for exchange for Post-Human knowledge: an invitation to Rosi Braidotti's philosophy" at Université Paul Valery III - Saint Charles in Montpellier, France, both in 2023. Additionally, he has participated in other study days at Italian and Portuguese universities, presenting communications on topics related to theatre criticism or on the theme of the absence of the body in still life and contemporary performance. Milella has also contributed academic articles, publishing in journals such as the European Journal of Theatre and Performance and Sinais De Cena. Furthermore, he has authored a chapter on the relationships between photographic images and the dramaturgy of the Swedish artist Marcus Lindeen, in a book edited by CET - Centro Estudos Teatrais de Lisboa, forthcoming publication. His contribution to a collective work dedicated to Rosi Braidotti's philosophy, edited by the publishing house Hermann, in the Recherche-Création collection, is also scheduled for publication by the end of 2024. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Classical Literature with an emphasis on Theatre History from the University of Parma, Italy, a diploma as a European Actor from the Teatro Stabile di Parma, and a certificate of attendance at the Scuola Civica Paolo Grassi in Milan, as a playwright. He has also participated in workshops and training courses in theatre and theatre criticism, including the Venice Theatre Biennale and the "School of Critics" at the International House of Dramaturgy - Escola do Largo, at the Municipal Theatre of Guarda, Portugal. Milella is also a full-time professor of Italian and Latin literature at the public school Liceo Scientifico Da Vinci in Genoa, Italy, currently on temporary leave to complete the doctoral program. He has worked in the administration of a theatre in the city of Genoa, the Teatro dell'Archivolto, and has been an assistant director on independent theatre projects and theatre workshops, the most recent being under the guidance of Tanya Beyeler (El Conde de Torrefiel) at the National Theatre Dona Maria II in Lisbon in 2022. He works steadily as a theatre critic and facilitates workshops and laboratories for different audiences, periodically collaborating with collectives in Italy and Portugal in the creation of performances as a playwright and performer. Massimo Milella is fluent in Italian, Portuguese, and French, with B2 level certifications in Portuguese and French, and possesses advanced skills in English and Spanish, although not certified.
