Researcher in Cognitive Psychology / Psycholinguistics. In 2015 I was awarded my PhD in Cognitive Science (University of Lisbon). I carried my research at the Psycholinguistics Lab from Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa, supervised by Prof. Armanda Costa. The PhD research focused on syntactic priming and I used methods such as self-paced reading and eye-tracking. During the PhD I was a visiting student at the University of Edinburgh, where I met Prof. Holly Branigan and Prof. Moreno Coco, who became my co-supervisors. As a post-doctoral researcher, I worked in Paris-Diderot University - France (2016) with Prof. Barbara Hemforth in a project investigating cross-linguistic pronoun resolution. In 2017 and 2018 I continued doing research at the University of Lisbon, in collaboration with Miguel Borges and Prof. Moreno Coco, on the topics of Ageing and Visual Processing. In 2109 and 2020 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Aberdeen - UK, where I integrated the project Social Attention and Ageing, led by Professors Louise Phillips and Ben Tatler. We examined gaze following in younger and older adults in a set of eye-tracking experiments. Between 2021 and 2024 I was at the University of Agder, Norway. The Fitness, Ageing and Bilingualism study (https://www.fab-study.com/about-the-project/), led by Prof. Linda Wheeldon, examined age-differences and bilingualism effects in language and cognitive function, and further investigated how these functions are affected by physical fitness, through the implementation of a physical exercise intervention. I am currently an auxiliar researcher at University of Minho, where I will develop a project on the intersection between social attention and language comprehension in young and older adults, as well as mono- and bilingual populations. My research focuses on Psycholinguistics (language comprehension and production, bilingualism) but extends to other areas of Human Cognition like Ageing, Visual Attention, Social Attention. I have worked with several behavioural techniques, including extensive use of eye-tracking, and I am currently acquiring new skills in the EEG technique to obtain physiological measures indexing human cognitive processing.
