Joaquim Macedo is Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Aveiro, where he completed his PhD in 2013 on the topic road traffic microsimulation. He teaches courses in the area of transports infrastructures and geotechnics. He is the supervisor of PhD and master¿s students in progress and was supervisor and co-supervisor of several concluded master's theses. His main research interests are Transport Infrastructures and Traffic Engineering, namely the area of traffic modeling, sustainable mobility and also didactics in higher education, where has several publications. In his career performed technical functions in the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Porto and STCP, as well as researcher and lecturer at FEUP. He is the author of several national and international publications, and was part of the team that prepared the ¿Manual de Planeamento de Acessibilidades e da Gestão Viária¿ (in Portuguese).
