António Paulo Vieira Pinto

Paulo Vieira-Pinto holds a degree in Social Sciences with a specialization in Social Psychology, a Master's degree in Forensic Science from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, and a PhD in Forensic Science from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of Fernando Pessoa University and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and the University Institute of Health Sciences (IUCS-CESPU). He serves as a member of the Board of the Department of Community Medicine, Information, and Decision in Health and the Multidisciplinary Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, and he is a guest speaker at the Nova School of Business and Economics Executive Education. He is also He is a researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Justice (CIJ) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto (FDUP). Certified as a Level 4 Forensic Specialist by the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF), he is also a founding partner, manager, and operations director of FOREN, Lda Forensic Science Experts. With 25 years of experience in the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), he specialized in criminal investigation and served as a sergeant, leading the special victims unit and traffic accident investigation teams. He was a member of the hostage negotiation and crisis team and also an instructor/trainer at the National Guard School (GNR). Since 2007, he has dedicated himself to studying violence in intimate and gender relations and its relationship with the responses of the criminal justice system, with ongoing studies, publications in international journals, and presentations at national and international congresses.
