Felipe Rodrigues Sousa is a social scientist with a keen interest in Heterodox Monetary Economics, the Philosophy of Economics, and the British “New Liberalism” of the early 20th century. He is currently a PhD Candidate in the Interdisciplinary Political Economy Program, a collaborative initiative between the University of Coimbra, the University of Lisbon, and the University Institute of Lisbon. Additionally, he serves as a Junior Researcher at the Research Center in Economic and Organizational Sociology (SOCIUS) at the University of Lisbon. He earned his Master’s degree in Political Science from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Brazil, in 2020. His thesis explored the connections between economic and political liberalism, tracing the evolution from classical economic liberalism to the “new liberalism of regulated capitalism.” During his Master’s program, he completed a teaching internship in a Political Science I course. Felipe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, Management, and Accounting at UFG, obtained in 2017. His final thesis examined “Money and Prices” through the works of David Ricardo, Thomas Robert Malthus, Irving Fisher, Alfred Marshall, and John Maynard Keynes. This work proposed two distinct intellectual lineages: one tracing from Malthus to Keynes and another from Ricardo through Fisher to Marshall. During his undergraduate studies, he also served as a mentor for Microeconomics I and II courses. For the past four years, he has been a private tutor in International Politics and Economics, offering instruction in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Brazilian Economic History, and International Economics in a preparatory course for the Brazilian Diplomatic Career Admission Test. Felipe has collaborated with research groups focused on “Brazilian public finances” and the intersection of “institutionalism and Keynes’s monetary theory.” Two of his oral presentations have been published in conference proceedings, and he has contributed a chapter to a book. Alongside other researchers, he has co-authored two working papers: one on “public taxation and alternatives to austerity” and another examining the “connections between Keynes and Marshall at the level of economic and social philosophy.” Throughout his graduate studies, he has simultaneously held various positions in the financial sector, primarily in data analytics related to credit management.
