Graduated (Bachelor) in Biological Sciences with a qualification in Marine Biology (2008) at the São Paulo State University - UNESP (Brazil), Master's (2011) and PhD in Comparative Biology (2017) at the University of São Paulo - USP (Brazil). During the first semester of 2024, Dr Duarte worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Regional University of Cariri - URCA (Brazil) and between 2019 and 2024 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Federal University of ABC - UFABC (Brazil), with a one-year internship at the Centre for Ecology and Conservation of the University of Exeter (UK). Since September 2024, he has been a member of the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) of the University of Aveiro (Portugal), working as a researcher under the project "BIOECOAZUL - Pacto da Bioeconomia Azul" funded by the European Union. Dr Duarte has expertise in Evolutionary and Behavioural Ecology, using different tools of digital imaging, visual modelling and computational gaming in field and laboratory experiments with a range of taxonomic groups. Dr Duarte worked as a lecturer at different universities in Brazil, teaching general ecology and data analysis modules in undergraduate and graduate courses. He has published 24 scientific articles and attended 27 national and international events, where he gave oral talks and presented scientific posters. Dr Duarte was supervisor/co-supervisor of four master's and one undergraduate students and worked on 16 academic degree juries. He worked as a peer reviewer for 37 scientific journals and advised projects submitted to three international funding agencies.
