Américo Ribeiro holds a PhD since 2022 in Marine Science, Technology and Management (Technological Progress, Engineering and Company Management branch) from the University of Aveiro (UA) taught jointly with the University of Porto, University of Minho, University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, University of Coruña, University of Santiago de Compostela and University of Vigo (UV). He is currently a Researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM), specifically at the Estuarine and Coastal Modelling Division (NMEC) at the Physics Department of UA. He also has collaborations with ePhyslab at the Applied Physics Department of UV. Since completing his bachelors degree, he has developed and applied numerical hydrodynamic and wave models to coastal and ocean environments, focusing on climate change impacts, wave energy and marine plastic debris monitoring. He has participated in various research projects and consultancy work for public organizations.
