Eduardo Luís Trindade da Silva completed the integrated Master's in Materials Engineering in 2009, at the University of Aveiro, and the PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in 2014, also at the University of Aveiro. He is an expert in the synthesis and application of doped and undoped CVD diamond coatings, applied to several areas such as microsensors for corrosion systems, functional hybrid materials, and more recently as wear-resistant coatings for advanced cutting tools. Besides 17 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, he also counts with several participations and communications in national and international conferences. He collaborated in several European projects, among which the following stand out: SARISTU - Smart Intelligent Aircraft Structures, in partnership with the company Airbus Operations GmbH, financed through the European program FP7-TRANSPORT; PROAIR - Active Protection of Multi-material Assemblies for Aircrafts, in partnership with the company Airbus Operations GmbH, financed through the European program FP7-PEOPLE-2013- Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways; MAGPLANT - Localized Corrosion Studies for Magnesium Implant Devices, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (H2020-MSCA-IF-2015). His work in the scope of the PROAIR and MAGPLANT projects, took place in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, in Germany, between 2015 and 2018. Until recently he was a Postdoctoral fellow at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, at the University of Aveiro in the scope of the project DHardTools - Precision Machining with CVD Diamond Cutting Tools project, in partnership with the company Palbit, S.A., financed through the European Regional Development Fund and the Compete 2020 programmes. In terms of student supervison he recently was the main advisr for the Master's thesis entitled "Development of CVD / TiAlSiN diamond coatings for applications in the aeronautical industry", and is currently co-supervisor of the Master's thesis entitled "Desenvolvimento de compósitos de PcBN-Ti através de sinterização assistida por campo elétrico para aplicações em ferramentas de corte". He is currently an invited adjunct professor at ESAN - University of Aveiro, where he lectures materials fundamentals and materials processing classes.
