Ana Teresa Gabriel holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (NOVA University of Lisbon, 2018) and is an Assistant Professor at the same university. She is a member of the UNIDEMI Research Center since 2020. Her research interests include Human Factors, Human-Systems Interaction, Biomechanics, and the development of innovative systems (tools/frameworks/devices). She lectured several courses on topics related to Industrial Engineering and Biomedical engineering, including Ergonomics, Ergonomic Systems Design, Work Study and Medical Imaging Processing. She is member of the scientific committee of the International Symposium of Occupational Safety and Hygiene since 2024. She is co-supervisor of an ongoing PhD student. She supervised/co-supervised 14 MSc students (concluded). As a PhD student, she received two awards related to the development of technology: an Honor Mention to the best oral communication in Jornadas Internacionais do Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação de Alcoitão (Lisbon, 2014) and the Silver Award on IFMBE Young Student Competition on Medical Device Design (Toronto, 2015).
