He publicado 81 artículos en revistas indexadas, elaborado 13 informes para empresas y organismos públicos, y presentado más de un centenar de comunicaciones a congresos. Cuento con 9 patentes concedidas. He dirigido tres tesis doctorales, estando otras dos en período de realización. Revisor para 23 revistas indexadas en el ámbito de la Óptica, la Fotónica, la Optometría y las Ciencias de la Salud. He escrito varios artículos y libros de divulgación científica y en los últimos nueve años he organizado y realizado con carácter voluntario más de setenta charlas y talleres de divulgación y más de cien actividades de óptica y astronomía en colaboración con diversas administraciones y entidades de iniciativa social. He sido coordinador en la USC del Máster Interuniversitario en Fotónica y Tecnologías del Láser, desde su propuesta (2006) hasta la consolidación de su implantación (2008). Miembro de las Comisiones Académicas de los Másteres de Investigación en Ciencias de la Visión (hasta 2/11/2011) y Fotónica y Tecnologías del Láser. Miembro de las Comisiones de Doctorado de esos mismos Másteres oficiales. Mi investigación ha estado dedicada a la aplicación de conceptos, métodos y tecnologías en el ámbito de la Óptica y la Fotónica para analizar y resolver cuestiones relevantes para la óptica del sistema visual humano, especialmente las relacionadas con la calidad óptica de la imagen retiniana. Mis principales áreas de trabajo en ese campo han sido la aberrometría ocular, el sensado de frente de ondas y las tecnologías microópticas. En los últimos años he dedicado cada vez más tiempo al estudio de los efectos no deseados de la luz artificial durante el período nocturno, comunmente conocidos como Contaminación Lumínica. En relación con este campo de investigación: - He formado parte del grupo promotor de la Red Española de Estudios de Contaminación Lumínica siendo actualmente el IP del nodo de la red en la Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. - He promovido la creación y puesta en funcionamiento de la Red Gallega de Medida del Brillo del Cielo Nocturno, con 14 detectores SQM-LR instalados en estaciones automáticas de MeteoGalicia, la agencia pública de meteorología del gobierno gallego, que proporciona datos continuos, de acceso libre y en tiempo real, sobre el brillo del cielo en las ciudades del corredor atlántico, zonas rurales en las Montañas Orientales e islas del Parque Nacional Martítimo-Terrestre de las Islas Atlánticas de Galicia. - He sido codirector del equipo científico que realizó los trabajos de medida de brillo del cielo nocturno para la consecución de la Certificación Starlight para el Parque Nacional Martítimo- Terrestre de las Islas Atlánticas de Galicia. - He promovido y coordino el Laboratorio de Contaminación Lumínica de la USC. 2bb744ee5b49537c73ee8a785c234f6d 3 He sido Vicerrector de Estudiantes y Servicios a la Comunidad Universitaria de la Universidade de Santiago de Compostela desde 30 de Julio de 1991 hasta 21 de Julio de 1994, y miembro del Consejo de Administración de UNIXEST, Sociedade Xestora de Intereses da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, S.L., desde Octubre de 2002 hasta Febrero de 2004.
