Bruno Amorim is a researcher in the area of Theoretical Physics, with a focus on Condensed Matter and Quantum Materials. He completed his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics and Nanotechnology at the Universidade Autónoma de Madrid in 2016. He was a visiting researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and an assistant researcher at the Centre of Physics of the University of Minho. Between 2016 and 2018, he was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie post-doctoral fellow, at Instituto Superior Técnico. Since 2019, Bruno Amorim is a Junior Researcher at the Physics Centre of Minho and Porto Universities, hired under the 2017 FCT Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus. Bruno Amorim works in the field of Quantum Materials, applying methods of quantum statistical mechanics, field theory and many-body quantum physics to the theoretical study of two-dimensional and layered materials, electronic and optical properties, nano-photonics, and non-equilibrium quantum physics. He was the PI of the project “Quantum Non-equilibrium excitons in two-dimensional semiconductors”, funded by FCT. Bruno Amorim is the author of 26 papers published in peer-reviewed journals in the area of Physics (14 in the last 5 years), including 1 “Highly Cited” Physics Report and 1 Nature Photonics. Bruno Amorim has a h-index of 12, with 719 citations (Web of Science). Bruno is also the author of 4 book chapters. He has co-supervised 1 PhD student and 4 MSc students. He has also supervised 2 MSc students and 1 BSc student. Currently he is co- supervising 2 PhD students and supervising 1 MSc student.
