Maryse Guedes holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Her main research line is the development and evaluation of early childhood interventions targeted at inhibited preschoolers. From 2021 to 2023, she was supported by a junior investigator contract (2020.01755.CEECIND) and an exploratory project funding, as principal investigator (EXPL/PSI-GER/0395/2021), to develop a new universal intervention with targeted elements for inhibited preschoolers to be implemented by preschool teachers in the classroom. During this period, she developed 3 intervention manuals for therapists, preschool staff and families. From 2017 to 2022, she was supported by a post-doctoral fellowship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and funding from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to adapt for Portugal, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a new multi-modal intervention program (Turtle Program) targeted at inhibited preschoolers and their parents. In connection with the University of Maryland (USA), she designed 4 intervention manuals for clinicians and parents of the Turtle Program to be implemented either in-person or online and published a manual of good practices. Since April 2020, she is also one of the principal investigators of the cross-cultural Families And Children's Experiences (F.A.C.E.) of COVID-19 Study in Portugal, which is being conducted in 10 countries (USA, Canada, Portugal, Italy, France, Chile, South Korea, China, Turkey and India). She participated in other national and international projects in topics related to high quality early childhood education and care and child well-being. To date, she published 24 papers, as first author, in peer-reviewed national/international journals, received 6 awards/distinctions, won 2 fellowships (PhD, post-doc) and 1 contract (CEEC) in FCT individual calls. From 2017 to 2020, she taught Qualitative Research Methods and Research Methods to undergraduate students. Since 2020, she has been teaching Developmental Research Methods and Developmental Assessment and Intervention Models to students of the Master in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology.
