Patricia C. Freire graduated in Biochemistry by the University of Aveiro, Portugal, and obtained her PhD from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, under the supervision of Georg Stingl. Her doctoral work in the field of immuno-dermatology earned her the Heinrich Auspitz Innovation Award and the Anton Luger Prize, granted by the Austrian Society of Dermatology and Venereology for excellent scientific contributions to the field of immuno-dermatology and for dissertations of outstanding scientific content in the field of clinical and experimental dermatology, respectively. She then received post-doctoral training at the Institute for Systemic Inflammation Research of the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, in Germany, where she focused on the relevance of the classical complement cascade during the development of skin autoimmune diseases. Since joining Exogenus Therapeutics in early 2020, Patricia helped attract over ¿€1Mi in grant and contract funding and has been involved in most aspects of the company, with particular interest in R&D projects.
