Adilia Januário Charmier- PhD in Organic Chemistry (1993), Université Blaise Pascal (France). She is currently Associate Professor and invited Full Professor at the Engineering Faculty (FE) of Lusofona University (LU)-Lisbon, Portugal). She is Director of the Biotechnology bachelor as well as sub-director of the Circular Bioeconomy and technology Bachelor. She dedicated her academic career teaching courses in the field of General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Chemistry of natural products as well as 30 years experience in teaching and training in Ciência Viva , Creating Knowledge and Casa da Ciência programs. Member of FE's Eco-Schools Council for a sustainable campus. In terms of rersearch, she supervised several national and international Masters and PhD students as well as international postdoctoral researchers. She is researcher at the Centre of Structural Chemistry (CQE) at IST-UL (Portugal) and at BioRG (Bioengineering and Sustainability research group) at LU. She participated in several international ERASMUS KA2-STEM Education projects and national ones (FCT, P2020, P2030) . Its main scientific expertise includes 1)- the extraction of medicinal plants and organic wastes using traditional and green microwave technologies and bioprocesses for the production of new biologically active products and their applications in the fields of health, pharmaceutical, nutraceuticals and biomaterials and 2)- the synthesis of new biological Metal-coordinated compounds using natural compounds as ligands. In addition, she has worked as Scientific Sénior Advisor in various international companies (Cerebio, Coutras, France and EXMceuticals inc., Vancouver, Canada) supervising funded research projects in collaboration with Lusofona University. She has been the co- founder of the portuguese subsidiary EXMceuticals Portugal Lda, where she was CEO until December 2019. Her scientific research activity resulted in 90 national and international scientific publications distributed by peer-reviewed international journals, conferences and patents.
