Presently, Lenea Campino is Full Professor in Medical Parasitology, at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHMT/UNL) and President of the Scientific Council since 2012. She acted as a consultant for the Portuguese National Directorate of Health. Lenea Campino has a Medical degree (Universidade de Lisboa) and a specialization in Clinical Pathology . She has a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, MSc degree in Medical Parasitology (IHMT, UNL) and PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences by the same Intitution. She has published 5 chapters of books (Eds: Springer, Blackwell, Lidel) and is author/ co-author in over 100 papers in international peer-review journals with an h-Index of 26. She has over 200 works in Conferences and as invited speacker. She has led 20 national (FCT, Farmaceutic Industry) and International (FP7/6/5/4, Farmaceutic Industry) research projects as PI (in 11) and international networks (4). To date she supervised 5 PhD thesis, 11 MSc thesis. Her main research topics are: Parasitology, leishmaniasis and Leishmania-HIV co-infections; molecular epidemiology and parasite diversity; vector and host-parasite interactions; immunology of the infection; natural canine infection and experimental leishmaniasis models; vaccine and drug discovery; diagnostics on visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis; environmental changes and emerging parasitic diseases.
