Márcia Matias, graduated in Geography, in the field of Physical Geography, concluded, in 2018, the Master in Physical Geography and Spatial Planning at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning ¿ University of Lisbon, with the presentation of the thesis entitled "The radiative balance of a group of buildings in Telheiras using infrared thermography". She has published in magazines such as "Applied Sciences", with the article "Surface Radiation Balance of Urban Materials and Their Impact on Air Temperature of an Urban Canyon in Lisbon, Portugal". Since then, she has been a Research Fellow in the project "Treatment of National Soil Classification Information and its availability in WebSIG" (2019-2020). She participated in the "XVI Colóquio Ibérico de Geografia ¿ Iberian Peninsula in the World: problems and challenges for an active intervention in Geography" and in the "II Congress of Portuguese Geography", held in Guimarães (2019). In 2022 she began her PhD at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, at the Center for Geographical Studies with a grant funded by the FCT with the theme "Urban Climate Changes: The impact of thermally inefficient surfaces on Urban Heat Islands in Lisbon"
